Reopening the pier comes a day after the County Commission voted to reopen Pensacola Beach beginning Friday with the same hours with the restrictions that people must follow social distancing guidelines.

On the beach, people must stay in groups of 10 or less and groups must be at least 6 feet apart.

The emergency order approved by the County Commission to reopen the beach carries a $500 fine or 60-day jail sentence for failing to comply with the order.
